Politi-Score: Vote Smarter

Abstract

How many of you voted in our recent mid-term elections? Of those that did not, how many of you did not because of a lack of unbiased, understandable information?

If you fall into this category, you are not alone. More than half of polled non-voters refrain from voting because they do not feel sufficiently informed about the candidates, propositions and issues. This lack of information is silencing a huge portion of the population.

We need a channel that will help people obtain information that is relevant to them and their interests. Politi-Score is that channel. Please join the conversation about this innovative new way to empower voters.

Who is your customer?

Politi-Score's target customers are every voter in the US who feel they do not have adequate access to honest political information when they need to cast their vote. Additionally, Politi-Score will provide services to make it easier for political candidates, elected officials and interest groups to honestly communicate with voters.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

We have unprecedented access to information. But according to Gallop, 60% of us don't trust the information we get from mass media on politics or government.* Most of our "news" sources editorialize their coverage to get better ratings. And fact-checking? Forget about it. Instead, we’re bombarded with political rhetoric, name-calling, and lies from all sides of the political spectrum. Yet every two years, we are asked to vote on a long list of names we don’t recognize and issues about which we know way too little. Politi-Score's goal is to make it easy and simple for users to keep up with the political issues and officials that directly impact their lives so that they can make better political decisions. * Trust in Mass Media Returns to All-Time Low, Gallup: http://www.gallup.com/poll/176042/trust-mass-media-returns-time-low.aspx
