Who is your customer?

Mobile health (mHealth) technologies are an emerging trend with an anticipated market share of $2.4 billion in hospital settings by 20171. Our target customers are hospitals in the United States with at least a basic electronic health record (EHR) in use by health care professionals. Our target end users are registered nurses providing direct care to patients within the hospital setting. U.S. hospitals must adopt and use EHRs within their care settings by 2015 or else face financial penalties in reimbursement from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Currently over 45% of U.S. hospitals have a basic EHR in their hospital setting (e.g., order entry, clinical documentation, results reporting, demographics)2. Nightingale Apps can offer our mobile application, Know My Patient, to hospitals with at least a basic EHR in use, for the nurses to improve care quality, productivity, nursing satisfaction, and reduce costs to the hospital.

What problem does this idea/product solve or what market need does it serve?

Nurses need to know unique details about their patients to deliver safe, patient-centered care. We at Nightingale Apps know the critical step in the process of getting to know the patient occurs during the first few minutes of a nurse's shift. We learned the information nurses need to manage multiple patients is most valued when easily accessible on-the-go. Our patent-pending product, Know My Patientâ„¢, offers expert workflow modules to drive quality care through a mobile device.
